I Just Wanna Go Home!

January 28, 2012 § Leave a comment

I may be surrounded by a million people, I still feel all alone and I just wanna go home! Oh, I miss you, you know! – Michael Bublé, Home

It’s really true that there’s no place like home! And it’s been a while since I last went home and I just wanna go home. I’ve been missing faces, short conversations, non-sense sibling quarrels,  and I just wanna go home! I am fine, maybe I am just a little homesick, and I just badly wanna go home! I know, I have to practice being alone, for sooner or later I’ll have to leave home, but right now, I just wanna go home!

One more day… And I’m coming home! 🙂

Enter the Water Dragon!

It’s the time of the year when people wearing red filled the streets, well, I ain’t talking of Valentine’s Day, but of Chinese New Year!

What kind of year will 2012 be?   Many expect 2012 to bring about the end of the world, perhaps because they mistakenly think of Mayan or Hindu cosmologies as linear rather than cyclical. From a Feng Shui standpoint 2012, the year of the Yang Water Dragon, brings many possibilities for good fortune.

As what I’ve known, we don’t have an ounce or a bit of Chinese blood running in our veins, yet every Chinese New Year, our family celebrates it and at some times, put some lucky charms in our home to attract good fortune! Well, there’s no harm in trying, right?! 🙂

This year, since we’re away at home, my sister and I decided to go to Binondo (Chinatown) with our tito (father’s side) and his family to welcome the Water Dragon.

I was so amazed with all the crowds, the colors, the charms being sold at the bangketa, the smell of the foods, the line of people in tikoy and hopia selling shops, the Chinese culture, everything, and at the same time very cautious for pickpockets!

“Lucky charms po, mga boss?”

“Panabit sa pinto? Pampaswerte?’

After strolling around Binondo, we decided to eat at a Chinese resto in Ongpin courtesy of Tito Roger. Luckily, we found a seat, for there are tons of people in that resto that time. Oooh! And I must say, the foods: HEAVEN!

“Ituro mo, iluluto ko!”

All red! With my Tito Roger’s family!

Yang chow fried rice.

Buttered chicken.

Calamares.

Beef with brocolli.

Chop suey.

Chopsuey

Pancit, pampahaba ng buhay!

Bloated and satisfied! While walking our way home, we’re lucky enough to witness a lion dance. So, here’s my video of it!

I hope that in this year of the water dragon, we’ll be all lucky in every aspects of our life! And, happiness to each and everyone!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
GONG XI FA CAI! 🙂

Dili Kamo Nag-iisa

Spend your money in something you love and at the same time help those who are in need? Is it possible? My answer: In football, yes!

January 07, 2012, a charity football match for the victims of typhoon Sendong entitled “Dili Kamo Nag-iisa” took place. It was a match against Azkals Alyansa, which was composed of players from the Philippine team and UFL teams, versus CF Internacional de Madrid, a tercera division football club in Spain.

I invited my friends to watch it and at the same time to help, they all agreed, the footy madness began, and again the rest was history! 😀

At the end of the day, we realized something…

We never thought helping can be this so much F-U-N! 😀

So, ’till next time! Buzz…

Viva Pit Senyor! Viva Sto. Niño!

The Feast of the Holy Infant Jesus or popularly known as Pista ng Sto. Niño, for me is one of the most colorful and beautiful festival here in the Philippines. Not only because of the ati-atihans everywhere and the festive musics all around, but because it is a feast for the kids and kids at heart.

By the way, according to the homily, Philippines is the only country all over the world that is celebrating the Feast of Sto. Niño.

It’s definitely more fun in the Philippines! 🙂
